Venchi Chocolate Bleecker St

7.5

Out of 10

A Turinese chocolate house that opened in the old Grom space on Bleecker — gelato in waffle cones, crêpes from a chocolate fountain, and a gold-accented room small enough that you'll be standing close. Open until midnight on weekends.

Reviewed June 2026

Venchi is a 140-year-old Turinese chocolate company that landed on Bleecker in the old Grom space, and it does exactly what a post-dinner stop should do: gives you something specific to order, looks good doing it, and stays open late. The setting is compact — gold accents, a chocolate fountain behind the counter, a handful of seats inside and a couple more out front. It's counter service, but it doesn't feel rushed.

The Vibe

Small, warm, and a little theatrical — the chocolate waterfall is genuinely eye-catching rather than cheesy. Weeknights are easy; weekend evenings draw a crowd on the sidewalk, so don't expect to linger over a table for long. The Bleecker Street foot traffic means it never feels dead, which is good for a first date but can get loud on a summer Friday.

What to Order

  • Pistachio gelato — made with Green Pistachio from Bronte, no artificial coloring, pale and nutty the way it should be. The benchmark order.
  • Crêpe with hazelnut-chocolate spread — the spread comes from the fountain, which makes the whole thing feel more deliberate than a standard dessert stop.
  • Save the boxed chocolates for a gift run, not a date — the pick-and-mix counter slows everything down and the experience shifts from romantic to transactional.

When to Come

After dinner anywhere in the West Village — it's the natural last stop on a Bleecker wander. Best on a warm evening when you can take your cone outside. Friday and Saturday it stays open until midnight, which is the right call after a late dinner.

The Bottom Line

A genuinely good post-dinner stop — specific enough to feel like a choice, late enough to actually work, and just theatrical enough to give you something to talk about.
