With Others is the wine bar you go to when you want to drink well without performing it. Shanna Nasiri opened this on Bedford Avenue in early 2024, a block from her apartment, and the place still has that energy — someone's home who knows a lot about wine and wants you to try something you haven't heard of.
The Vibe
Soft white walls, paper lantern sconces, chain-link candle holders with cylindrical candles — the room is small and dim without trying for moody. Fritz Hansen stools at the bar, custom cushions in the booths. Table 1, facing Bedford, is the seat to ask for. The indoor acoustics are the honest knock: it gets genuinely loud once the room fills, which it does on weekends. The back patio is where the better conversations happen — covered, quieter, and the right call from spring through fall.
What to Order
- Crab toast — radishes, bottarga butter, the thing to anchor the order around.
- The apero trio — marinated olives, marcona almonds, fennel crackers; order it first, before you've decided anything else.
- Skip the oysters as your main food move — they're fine, but the kitchen's Italian-leaning small plates are where the effort actually shows.
When to Come
Wednesday or Thursday, early — 5:30 or 6pm before the room turns loud. Walk-ins take most tables, so no reservation needed for two. Saturday afternoon, when the patio opens up and the pace is slower, is the other strong option. This is a two-glasses-and-small-plates night, not dinner.
The Bottom Line
A genuinely good wine bar with a list that punches well above the neighborhood — go on a weeknight when you can actually hear each other.
