Oysters and Old-Fashioneds in Williamsburg

Date · Williamsburg · $$$$

A seductive tour through Williamsburg's best — natural wine at a low-lit bar, a legendary oyster palace on Bedford Ave, and a warm cookie split on the sidewalk to close the night.

01Drinks

With Others

Williamsburg · $$$ · Wine bar

With Others is the kind of wine bar you stumble into and stay two hours longer than planned. The focus is minimal-intervention pours — funky, skin-contact, low-sulfite stuff that gives you something to actually talk about — alongside a short, well-chosen menu of olives and oysters. It's Bedford Ave at its most effortlessly cool: intimate enough to hear each other, relaxed enough to linger.

340 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249

~2 min walk (0.1 mi). From With Others, head south on Bedford Ave toward Maison Premiere — this stretch of Bedford is one of the best blocks in Brooklyn for window-shopping and people-watching. Notice the old storefronts rubbing shoulders with the new.

Editor’s Pick

Williamsburg · $$$ · Oyster bar restaurant · American restaurant

Maison Premiere is the closest thing Williamsburg has to a timeless New York institution — the marble horseshoe bar, the candlelight, the absinthe drip, and thirty-plus rotating oysters haven't flinched in over a decade. Get a garden table if the weather is right, order the tableside Sazerac and watch the bartender work, then follow with the fluke crudo or beef tartare on She Wolf sourdough. This is a place that makes you feel like you're in a better city version of yourself.

298 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11249

~3 min walk (0.2 mi). After dinner, Levain is a short walk north on N 4th St. The night air after a long meal is part of the experience — resist the urge to cab it.

03Dessert

Williamsburg · $ · Bakery

End the night the way all great Williamsburg nights should end — on the sidewalk, splitting a warm, six-ounce chocolate chip walnut cookie from Levain. It's enormous, gooey in the center, and genuinely worth the cult status. Unpretentious, delicious, and the perfect reason to slow down and stay outside a little longer.
