Thirty seats, a brick-walled room, and a hearth oven cranking out pita to order — Pomp and Circumstance is intimate in all the right ways. Chef James Ahearn's menu reads like a passport stamp between Armenia and Sicily: lamb meatballs, silky labneh, and pasta that earns its place on the table. It's quiet enough to have an actual conversation, which on a first date is either a gift or a test.
~4 min walk (0.2 mi). Heading from Pomp and Circumstance to elNico Rooftop, you'll cut back toward the North Side near the waterfront. Note: elNico sits just at the northern edge of core Williamsburg — it's still very much in the spirit of the neighborhood, just a few blocks closer to the bridge. Look up on N 8th St and you'll already get a preview of the skyline before you even ride the elevator.
