Tacos, Paintball, and Beers in Bushwick

Hangout · Bushwick · Fun & Playful · $

A classic Bushwick afternoon of cheap, delicious Mexican food, competitive paintball chaos, and well-earned cold ones at a craft beer hall.

01Food

Bushwick · Taco restaurant · Caterer

Kick things off with a round of tacos at Taqueria Al Pastor — the al pastor is the obvious order (it's in the name), and the colorful tiled interiors make it feel like a street-food market in Mexico City. It's fast, vibrant, and cheap enough that everyone can double up on orders without guilt. Fuel up, because you're going to need it.

128 Wyckoff Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11237

~14 min walk (0.7 mi). From Taqueria Al Pastor, head north on Wyckoff Ave toward Scholes St — the streets get more industrial as you go, which is very much the Bushwick vibe. Keep an eye out for the murals that pop up on warehouse walls along the way.

02Activity

Bushwick · Paintball center

Nothing settles a group dynamic like indoor paintball at Area 53 — every friendship gets tested and every score gets settled here. The facility is full-on with multi-room courses designed for chaotic, all-out battles that'll have your whole crew screaming and laughing simultaneously. Book in advance on weekends, and may the best shot win.

616 Scholes St, Brooklyn, NY 11237

~9 min walk (0.5 mi). Area 53 and KCBC are both deep in the Scholes St corridor, so the walk from paintball to pints is short and easy — a perfect cooldown stretch to settle the post-game trash talk before you grab your seats.

03Drinks

Bushwick · Brewery · Beer hall

Limp your way (victoriously, obviously) over to Kings County Brewers Collective for a well-deserved pint in one of Bushwick's best beer halls. KCBC brews bold, creative stuff — think hazy IPAs and wild sours — and the laid-back, warehouse-y space is perfect for replaying every paintball highlight reel. Order a flight if the group can't agree on one, which they won't.
