Le Coucou is the kind of room that makes people forget what they were about to say — vaulted ceilings, hand-blown glass chandeliers, and blue-gray mohair banquettes straight out of a French countryside dream. Chef Daniel Rose's menu is old-school in the best way: go for the quenelle de brochet (a silky pike dumpling that's been on the menu since day one) or the sole meunière, and let the classics do their thing. Reserve well ahead, dress up a little, and surrender to the occasion.
