A date plan

Bisou, Le Coucou, Ladurée in SoHo

Date · SoHo · Romantic · $$$

A fully French evening in SoHo — red-neon wine bar warmth, one of the most stunning dining rooms in the city, and Parisian macarons to seal the deal.

01Drinks

SoHo · $$ · Wine bar · Bar

Start the night at Bisou, a tiny, red-neon-lit wine bar on 6th Ave that somehow feels like a side street in the 11th arrondissement. The Art Deco details and warm candlelight do half the work for you — the other half is done by a wine list the staff actually understand and can talk you through. Order the charcuterie board and something from the natural wine section; the Matthieu Barret Petit Ours is a name worth dropping.

112 6th Ave, New York, NY 10013

~8 min walk (0.4 mi). From Bisou, head south on 6th Ave and cut east through the SoHo grid — Grand Street is worth a slow stroll, especially once the boutique windows go dark and the cobblestones take over. Le Coucou is tucked into the 11 Howard Hotel on Lafayette.

02Dinner

SoHo · $$$ · Restaurant · Breakfast restaurant

Le Coucou is the kind of room that makes people forget what they were about to say. Vaulted ceilings, pewtered-steel chandeliers hung at varying heights, mohair banquettes, and a hand-painted French countryside mural designed by Roman and Williams — Daniel Rose's SoHo landmark earns its Michelin star before you even open the menu. Go à la carte and share: the quenelle de brochet is the move, and tout le lapin is as theatrical as it is delicious.

138 Lafayette St, New York, NY 10013

~8 min walk (0.4 mi). After dinner, head west across SoHo toward West Broadway. The neighborhood is at its most cinematic at night — cast-iron facades, dim streetlights, and almost no one rushing. Ladurée is right on W Broadway between Spring and Prince.

03Dessert

SoHo · $$$ · Cafe · Pastry shop

End the night at Ladurée SoHo, where the macarons come in colors that look almost too pretty to eat — almost. The West Broadway townhouse location has a full garden that's one of SoHo's quietest and most romantic spots when weather allows. Pick a box to share on the walk home, or linger over a glass of something sweet and pretend you're still in Paris.
