Lower East Side

Cocktail dens and rooftop views

The LES packs more energy per block than almost anywhere else in the city. Speakeasy-style cocktail bars, inventive small plates, and rooftop spots with skyline views make this a go-to for dates with edge. It's loud on weekends and perfect on weeknights when you can actually get a table and hear each other talk.

  1. Lower East Side · Cocktail bar

    BAR GOTO

    $$ · Reviewed August 2026

Kenta Goto opened this thirty-seat LES bar in 2015 and it still doesn't have a weak cocktail. Order the Sakura Martini, order the miso wings, and plan on missing whatever you had going on afterward.

  2. Lower East Side · New American restaurant

    BETTY

    $$ · Reviewed August 2026

Chef Abby Hitchcock's thirty-seat New American on a quiet Henry Street block — candlelit at dinner, all-day breakfast available at midnight on weekends, and home to the house pretzels that started the whole thing. The kind of place you find by accident and return to on purpose.
