Mr. Throwback on E 9th is the anchor stop for any group with a competitive streak — the '90s sports jerseys, vintage sneakers, and retro video games turn browsing into a full-on scavenger hunt. Someone will find a Starter jacket in their team's colors; someone else will disappear into the video game section. Budget extra time.
~3 min walk (0.1 mi). Mr. Throwback and 9th St. Vintage are essentially across the street from each other on E 9th, so this is a true two-for-one stroll. Keep your eyes open for the other vintage shops tucked along the block.

Just across the street, 9th St. Vintage goes deeper into the past — pre-1960s dresses, offbeat collectibles, and jewelry that looks like it belongs in a time capsule. It's a total tonal shift from Mr. Throwback, which makes it the perfect one-two punch. The jewelry case alone is worth a stop.
~6 min walk (0.3 mi). From E 9th St, head east toward Avenue B to reach 7B Horseshoe Bar. The walk takes you through the quieter, residential end of the East Village — a nice wind-down before settling in.

Cap the afternoon at 7B Horseshoe Bar — one of the East Village's last true dives, with a punk-loaded jukebox and an old-school photobooth that was made for a group outing. The curved horseshoe bar means everyone can actually see each other, which is a rare gift. Cash is king here, and the drinks are cheap enough that a second round is basically mandatory.
