~4 min walk (0.2 mi). Walking from La Compagnie to Emporio, you'll cut through the heart of Nolita — keep an eye on the boutique storefronts along Mott Street, especially if they're still lit up. It's one of those blocks that looks best at dusk.

Emporio is a neighborhood gem that earns its candlelit reputation without trying too hard — the back room's skylight turns the whole space golden, which is exactly the energy you want over housemade pasta and Roman-style wood-fired pizza. Order the cacio e pepe pizza if it's on, and split a pasta to start. It's the kind of Italian dinner that doesn't feel like a tourist trap, which in this part of downtown is genuinely saying something.

Christina Tosi's cereal-milk soft serve and crack pie are cult classics for a reason — grab something to share and eat it on the street, which is half the fun.
