Cocktails, Fire, and Cobblestones in DUMBO

Date · DUMBO · Romantic

Start with creative cocktails at a cozy DUMBO bar, move to a candlelit wood-fired dinner on a cobblestone block, and finish the night with artisan pastries from a charming neighborhood bakeshop.

01Drinks

DUMBO · $$$ · Bar · Italian restaurant

AlMar's brick-walled, mirror-lined room on Front Street is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've discovered something — even though the neighborhood has known about it for years. Pull up to the bar for an Aperol spritz or a glass from their Italian-leaning wine list before your table is ready. The warm lighting does all the heavy lifting.

111 Front St, Brooklyn, NY 11201

~8 min walk (0.4 mi). From AlMar on Front Street, it's a short stroll toward the water and into Vinegar Hill — enjoy the shift from DUMBO's cobblestones to the quieter, almost village-like feel of Hudson Avenue. Heads up: Vinegar Hill House is technically just outside the DUMBO core, but it's very much in the same romantic Brooklyn orbit.

02Dinner

DUMBO · $$$ · New American restaurant · American restaurant

Vinegar Hill House is tucked down a cobblestone block that feels like Brooklyn's best-kept secret — exposed brick, mismatched vintage chairs, and a wood-fired oven that fills the room with something between a fireplace and a fantasy. Order the heritage Red Wattle pork chop without hesitation, and let a sommelier steer you toward a small-producer European bottle. If you can snag a seat in the Fireside room downstairs, take it.

72 Hudson Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11201

~6 min walk (0.3 mi). After dinner, loop back through DUMBO toward Jay Street to find Burrow. The walk back through the neighborhood at night — with the Manhattan Bridge framed between the buildings — is arguably the best part of the evening. Don't rush it.

03Dessert

DUMBO · $$ · Bakery · Pastry shop

Burrow on Jay Street is tiny, intentional, and completely delightful — the kind of bakeshop where the cookies look almost too beautiful to eat (almost). Grab something flaky or chocolate-forward and take it outside; DUMBO's streetlights at night are half the dessert. It's the perfect low-key cap to a big evening.
