Maretta landed on Avenue B in late 2024 and immediately felt like it had always been there — concrete walls, candlelight, and a pizza oven crackling behind the bar like the evening has its own heartbeat. Amor y Amargo is NYC's original bitters bar — closed, mourned, and triumphantly back at a new address on E 6th with penny-tile counters and a wall stacked with roughly 350 amaro bottles. It's mostly standing room, which only means you're closer together. Order the Sharpie Mustache (amaro, Bonal, rye, gin, tiki bitters) and stay for a second — that's not a suggestion, it's a rule.
